SUPPORT OF BATYRKAN SHUKENOV FOUNDATION

SCHOLARSHIP FOR TALENTED STUDENTS

“Continuity is important for us. The most talented musicians, followers of Batyr in musical skills, can get the support of the Foundation. In cooperation with the Kazakh National Conservatory named after Kurmangazy we have launched two projects designed for a long life,” said Nargiz Shukenova, Director of the Foundation.

This year pupils of specialized schools in Almaty, Nur-Sultan, Pavlodar and Karaganda, as well as students of the Kazakh National Conservatory named after Kurmangazy and the capital's Kazakh National University of Arts applied for the Batyrkhan Shukenov's scholarship. All of them are winders.
Young musicians provided video recordings of the performance and then they were to be interviewed by the members of the professional committee. In total, 47 applications were received, 14 applicants were admitted to the second round, and the number of scholarships provided for 2020-2021 was 10.

Albina Ayapbek
Saxophone
Karaganda Musical Boarding School for Gifted Children (Karaganda)

"The Batyrkhan Shukenov’s Scholarship is a wonderful addition to my current and future achievements. Despite the fact that online rehearsals do not create the desired and familiar atmosphere for me, the teacher and I managed to achieve our goal".

Yerkezhan Bakytzhankyzy

French horn
Republican Secondary Specialized Musical Boarding School for Gifted Children named after Kulyash Baiseitova (Almaty)

"I heard about the Batyrkhan Shukenov’s scholarship last year, I was offered to try my hand, but I was not sure if I would succeed. I was preparing the program during the year and, despite the difficulties that arose due to the quarantine, I continued to work. My work was justified and I am glad of this opportunity to realize my potential. This is a great motivation, and since this year is my graduation year, I plan to graduate with honours. Then I want to enter one of the European conservatories and, after graduation, develop the musical environment in Kazakhstan, especially the French horn performance".

Inabat Belaya

Saxophone

Kazakh National University of Arts (Nur-Sultan)

"Last year I also applied for the scholarship named after Batyr, but, unfortunately, I did not get it. This made me work even harder - I was scrupulous about the program selection and recording, and now I am one of the 2020 scholarship holders. This is undoubtedly an indicator of growth, a challenge and inspiration for new discoveries. After graduating from the University of Arts, I would like to continue my studies and become a real professional".

Daniil Borissov

French horn
Musical Boarding School for Gifted Children (Pavlodar)

"The Batyrkhan Shukenov’s scholarship is a great incentive for me, I am constantly studying and now I plan to work even harder. This means that I move on the right way and will be able to reach new heights".

Daniyar Yerman

Oboe
Republican Secondary Specialized Musical Boarding School for Gifted Children named after Akhmet Zhubanov (Almaty)

"The Batyr's scholarship for me is an opportunity to be art and part in the name of my favourite artist, which means it is a great responsibility.
Preparation for the presentation was not easy: we could not see the teacher and the accompanier and we began to prepare intensively already during the quarantine relaxation period for only a month. I would like to make my dream come true and study in the homeland of oboe - in France".

Daliya Smagulova

Saxophone

Special School at the Kazakh National University of Arts (Nur-Sultan)

"This is my first cash award!  I was preparing to apply for the scholarship all summer, staying with my grandparents in quarantine period, all my classes with a teacher in my specialty took place online, but it seems we did it. Thanks to the scholarship, I am very inspired and want to study even more, I dream of participating in international competitions and travelling more".

Sanzhar Kadyrbekov
French horn

Kazakh National Conservatory named after Kurmangazy (Almaty)

"I am happy to win this scholarship and make a step further to my goal. This is a new opportunity for young people, new generation of musicians. The scholarship was very important to me so I prepared really hard".

Rakhilya Kumarova
Flute

Kazakh National University of Arts (Nur-Sultan)

"This scholarship is a payoff for the shown hard work, perseverance and activity, as well as an excellent opportunity to invest funds in my potential development. Since the first course I have been actively involved in the creative and social activities of the University and this grant has convinced me to improve and gain new experience".

Meyirkhan Tilektessov
Clarinet

Republican Secondary Specialized Musical Boarding School for Gifted Children named after Akhmet Zhubanov (Almaty)

"First of all, it is a great honor to be the holder of the Batyr's scholarship; my family and I are very proud of this. Daily classes are part of my life and I am glad to be singled out. When my teacher Tasmukhan Issenov and I decided to apply for this scholarship, I wanted to play live and send a new recording, but quarantine separated me from my accompanier, Zhanar Khiduanova, and we had to send a video from the last performance with the orchestra at the Almaty Philharmonic Hall. I plan to finish 12 classes at the school named after Zhubanov, study abroad and perform solo in symphony orchestras".

Aiganym Shildebayeva
Flute

Kazakh National Conservatory named after Kurmangazy (Almaty)

"The Batyrkhan Shukenov’s scholarship is the result of a great love for music, for my instrument and its creative work. I am planning to purchase a second instrument - a piccolo, as I already have a transverse flute. I would like to attend more master classes and concerts and improve my performance level. I am convinced that nothing is impossible and the main thing is to believe in yourself".
