The Bulat Utemuratov Foundation has been honored with the Community Service award from the American Chamber of Commerce in Kazakhstan at the annual AmCham Awards ceremony held on June 1 in Astana. The awards were determined by a vote of an independent committee.
Over ten years, the foundation has directed more than $210 million toward charitable activities, including over $100 million for projects implemented in 2023 and 2024. These projects have benefited more than 100,000 Kazakhstani citizens, including approximately 27,000 people in the past year alone.
The expert jury highlighted the significant contributions of the Foundation to Kazakhstan’s social development in 2023-2024 through the implementation of the following projects:
– Asyl Miras Centers: A network of specialized centers for children with autism spectrum disorder in 12 cities across Kazakhstan.
– Jas Leader Akademiiasy Program: A leadership development academy operating in 124 schools nationwide.
– Zhasyl Mektep Program: An environmental education initiative for middle school students, based on year-round greenhouses installed by the Foundation in 36 schools in Almaty and Astana.
– Construction of a school in Kosshy, Akmola Region: A school built to meet the national “Comfortable School” standard.
– Help Card Project: A project launched in partnership with the Red Crescent in Kazakhstan and ForteBank in 2018, aimed at assisting Kazakhstani citizens affected by natural disasters.
– Funding for Flood Relief in Aktobe Region in 2024.
“Our awards recognize not only business companies but also non-profit organizations that make a significant contribution to the country’s development. This year, we would like to highlight the efforts of the Bulat Utemuratov Foundation, which has made an outstanding contribution to the development of society in Kazakhstan, primarily by helping those in real need. Additionally, we commend the many other Foundation projects aimed at education and supporting the younger generation of Kazakhstanis,” commented Doris Bradbury, Executive Director of the American Chamber of Commerce in Kazakhstan.
“I would like to express my gratitude to AmCham for recognizing our efforts. This award is not only a testament to our years of hard work but also a motivation to further expand our capabilities. We have big plans for the near future – soon, we will present the new passenger terminal at Kyzylorda Airport, funded by the Foundation. Moreover, in August, we plan to complete the construction of a new school in Yesik, and next year, we will open the first community center in Kazakhstan in Kosshy,” said Marat Aitmagambetov, Director of the Bulat Utemuratov Foundation.
