Bulat Utemuratov Foundation summarizes results of the year: new airport, schools, help for flood victims

In 2024, the Bulat Utemuratov Foundation implemented socially important projects and initiatives worth more than KZT 27.7 billion.

In the expiring year, the Foundation continued to provide its active support for Kazakhstani citizens affected by natural disasters. This April, a total of KZT 11.7 billion was allocated to provide assistance to flood victims, including the construction and purchase of housing for more than 500 families left homeless in Aktobe and Akmola Regions.

On September 1, two general schools were opened in Almaty Region, which experiences a shortage of educational facilities. The schools located in Yessik and Shelek are designed for 900 students each and equipped with state-of-the-art technology, special classrooms, workshops, and gyms. The project was implemented with the support of the Verny Capital Group.

A new terminal at Korkyt Ata Airport was commissioned in Kyzylorda this November. The new airport meeting the highest international standards makes it possible to significantly improve the transport and logistics potential of the region and increase the air harbor’s capacity up to 2 million passengers per year.  The airport was donated to the communal ownership of the city authorities upon completion of the construction.

In early 2025, a unique cultural and sports facility will be inaugurated in Kosshy and donated to the city’s residents. Furthermore, 500 apartments are scheduled for completion in the near future so that to be transferred to Astana City Akimat to provide housing for socially vulnerable groups of population.

The Foundation continues to dedicate special attention to the Autism. One World for All project, which provides support to children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) in 12 regions of Kazakhstan. In 2024, the Autism Friendly initiative was launched to train airport staff on interacting with ASD individuals.

The Foundation continues to implement the Zhas Leader Akademiiasy (Young Leader Academy) and the Zhasyl Mektep (Green School) programs aimed at developing children and youth. Additionally, the Foundation provides support for cultural initiatives, including the BAYSA audio podcast and the Kazakhstan. Treasures of the Great Steppe exhibition in Paris.

Beneficiaries of these projects are more than 100 thousand Kazakhstani people, including those affected by natural disasters, families having children with special needs, school students in various regions of Kazakhstan and many others. We plan to expand the ongoing programs and launch new initiatives,” Chairman of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees Almaz Sharman emphasized at the annual meeting of the Foundation’s trustees in Astana.

The Foundation’s Board of Trustees also includes writer Olzhas Suleimenov, cyclist Alexander Vinokurov, musician Zhaniya Aubakirova and media manager Armanzhan Baitassov.
