Air Astana joined the Autism Friendly initiative of the Bulat Utemuratov Foundation

The project goal is to create a comfortable and accessible environment for people with autism spectrum disorders (ASD).

Air Astana has become part of the international Autism Friendly initiative implemented by the Bulat Utemuratov Foundation.

The airline’s employees have undergone special training, including lectures and practical classes aimed at developing skills for interacting with passengers who may require a special approach. The educational program helps to recognize behavioral characteristics and create conditions that contribute to a calmer and more comfortable stay on board.

“Aviation is, at its core, about movement and change, and for people with autism, this can be difficult. It is important for them to feel that they are in a safe and understandable environment. Therefore, we believe it is important that as many service sector employees as possible know how to communicate correctly and respectfully with people with ASD. We are pleased to cooperate with Air Astana,” said Marat Aitmagambetov, Director of the Bulat Utemuratov Foundation.

In addition to training, children’s coloring books based on the drawings of pupils of the Assyl Miras autism centers will be distributed on Air Astana flights throughout April. The campaign is timed to coincide with the World Autism Awareness Day, which is held annually on April 2.

The “Autism. One World for All” program is the flagship project of the Bulat Utemuratov Foundation. Over 10 years, 13 Assyl Miras autism centers have been opened in 11 cities of Kazakhstan as part of the initiative. The centers provide free diagnostics, consultations and training for children with ASD and their families.
