According to the data of CDC (USA), at the present day, autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is diagnosed in one of 59 children. Autism is diagnosed in boys four times oftener than in girls (one of 37 boys has ASD).
“Specialists discuss the reasons of autism for a long time, but in vain. Nobody has given strong arguments in favour of one or another version yet. The most important thing that every parent should know: autism is not a sentence. Today, there are effective methods of adaptation and development of necessary skills in children with ASD. The earlier ASD is diagnosed in a child, the earlier the parents refer to specialists and the more chances to grow a person able to independent, productive life in modern society. Therefore, it is very important to inform people about autism; people should know its signs and go to specialists in case if they observe a development gap in child,” Zhanyl Mukashova, Director of Programs of the Bulat Utemuratov’s Foundation, said.
Within the framework of “Autism. One World for All” Program, the Bulat Utemuratov’s Foundation established the Asyl Miras Autism Centers in six cities of Kazakhstan (Nur-Sultan, Almaty, Kyzylorda, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Aktobe and Uralsk), which work on a free-of-charge basis. Their main task is to detect ASD at the earliest stage as well as correction and socialization of children. Specialists of the Foundation help to develop required skills in children with autism spectrum disorders. During five years of work of the Foundation, about 5 thousand children were passed diagnostics in the Asyl Miras Autism Centers, of them about 3,700 children were enrolled for the skills development programs.
“Doors of our Centers are opened for all parents and children every day; there, totally free of charge, our specialists prepared in accordance with the cutting-edge methods will help to diagnose ASD and, in case of detection of the disorder in a child, will include him/her for corresponding program for development of necessary skills.  All our centers carry out the lessons according to the American methods developed by the University of California and Marcus Autism Center in Atlanta. These methods had proved their effectiveness. Every child who had been studied or is studied in our centers has development progress,” Mrs. Mukashova noted.
“Autism. One World for All” Program is the first and one of the large-scale projects of the Foundation. It is aimed at the study and implementation of the most effective methods of care for children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) in Kazakhstan through the network of the Asyl Miras Autism Centers. The Bulat Utemuratov’s Foundation plans to open such Centers in two more cities.
