The Bulat Utemuratov’s Foundation donated houses to 150 families affected by the flood in Makhtaaral district
150 houses were built by the Bulat Utemuratov’s Foundation in Myrzakent, Makhtaaral district, Turkestan region for victims of the flood that took place last spring as a result of the dam failure. Today, the keys to the houses were donated to their future residents with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar and Akim of the Turkestan region Umirzak Shukeyev.

“Our shareholder Bulat Utemuratov was the first of Kazakhstan patrons to respond to the disaster that took place here in spring. He allocated 6 million US Dollars for the construction of 150 houses for Makhtaaral residents who lost their houses as a result of the disaster. This is arguably the largest contribution to the restoration of the region and the largest number of houses built. While implementing the project, we chose only the best material and strictly monitored the quality of work. Despite all the difficulties caused by the pandemic and quarantine, we have completed the task in a four month period, as you can see. By the way, the last year’s experience in Arys, where we built houses for 100 families affected by the explosions, helped us,” said Yerlan Ospanov, General Director of the Verny Capital Group of Companies.
Three-room houses with an area of 100 sq. m were built in a new, promising area of Myrzakent. Residents of Dostyk, Zhanaturmys and Zhenis settlements, whose houses were destroyed, were resettled here. All communications were laid to the new microdistrict; construction of a kindergarten and a school started.
Akim of the Turkestan region Umirzak Shukeyev noted that the region overcame all the difficulties with the support of the whole country. “Residents of the Makhtaaral district received support at the country level. Nobody was left without attention. The whole country came to help. May all difficulties fall behind, and only happy and joyful events await you ahead. Once again, I sincerely congratulate you on your new houses,” said the Head of the Region.
The new settler Kenzhe Tleubayev, a resident of the Zhenis village, a father of four children, recalls those difficult days of early May: “The entire village was washed away in two days; almost nothing remained of our house and houses of our neighbours. We lost everything and were completely at a loss. And today, five months later, I am overwhelmed with joy. This is joy and gratitude to our state, our people and citizens who came to help us and helped in time of need.“
The Imantayev’s family was one of the first to settle in the new house. Talgat , the father of five children, does not suppress his feelings: “Many thanks to the Yelbassy, the President, Akims, the Bulat Utemuratov’s Foundation, and everyone who extended a helping hand and supported us. We want us and the whole country to have only joyful events now!“
“The charitable project was implemented in cooperation with the Akimat of the Turkestan region, to which we are grateful for their help. Our partnership has become another successful example, when private initiative and state support effectively solve public problems,” said Marat Aitmagambetov, Director of the Bulat Utemuratov’s Foundation.
In 2019, the Bulat Utemuratov’s Foundation financed the construction of houses for 100 large families in Kyzylorda and 100 families affected by the explosions of ammunition in Arys. The total amount allocated for the projects was KZT 1.3 billion
