The purpose of the agreement is the construction of a new modern passenger terminal of the airport with an expansion of capacity that meets modern international standards. After modernization, the airport will be able to serve up to 300 passengers per hour, which will double the current passenger traffic.
The Fund intends to fully finance the project, its start is scheduled for 2022. The new terminal will be located on an area of 3.9 hectares. After completion of construction, the terminal will be transferred to the balance of the Akimat of the Kyzylorda region.
According to Gulshara Abdykalikova, Akim of the Kyzylorda region, the expansion of the airport is a long overdue issue. “Due to the high cost of building a new airport, we decided that the best solution would be to expand and modernize the existing infrastructure through the construction of a new terminal, bringing it in line with international standards. The signed memorandum and financial support of the Bulat Utemuratov Foundation will help to implement this strategically important project promptly and on time,” the head of the region noted.
