ASYL MIRAS AUTISM CENTER OPENED IN PETROPAVLOVSK

On October 3, 2019, opening ceremony of the Asyl Miras Autism Center took place in the city of Petropavlovsk. The Center was opened within the framework of joint project of the Education Administration of the North Kazakhstan region, the Education Division of Petropavlosk city and the Bulat Utemuratov’s Foundation.

Immediacy of the issues connected with autism and intervention growths year by year all over the world. According to the data of CDC (USA), at the present day, autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is diagnosed in one of 59 children. Autism is diagnosed in boys four times oftener than in girls (one of 37 boys has ASD). To introduce the best world intervention practices, the Bulat Utemuratov’s Foundation implements program “Autism. One World for All”, which is aimed at the study and implementation of the most effective methods of care for children with ASD in Kazakhstan. Today, as much as eight Asyl Miras Autism Centers in the cities of Kazakhstan are fully functional under the auspices of the Bulat Utemuratov’s Foundation; they use the system of early detection and timely assistance for children with ASD and their families as well as for their social adaptation. Qualified rehabilitation assistance and help in integration in social life has become available for children with ASD of Petropavlovsk city and the North Kazakhstan region.

According to the data of the regional Education Administration, about 4 thousand children from 0 to 18 years old with special educational needs and over 400 children with diagnosis “autism”, “autism spectrum disorder” live in the region. The Asyl Miras Autism Center is up-to-date space where the trained clinical specialist, using modern special methods, tools and innovative technologies of work with children with ASD, will render the services for special education and accompaniment of children with ASD. Moreover, within the Center, parents and immediate circle of children with ASD could get informational support, special consulting and education assistance of teachers. Opening of such special Center for children with ASD in the region is well-timed and important and will contribute to the quality improvement of the services for children having special needs.

Children and parents, Akim of the North Kazakhstan region Kumar Irgibayevich Aksakalov, Director of the Bulat Utemuratov’s Foundation Marat Aitmagambetov, representatives of state educational structures of the region and the city as well as the Bulat Utemuratov’s Foundation took part in the opening ceremony of the Asyl Miras Autism Center.
